Part-Time Editor (Documentary & Short-Form Content)

Estimated Time Commitment: Approximately 20 hours per week (depending on project needs)
Role Overview
ISNA Canada is seeking a Part-Time Editor to support the production of documentary pieces and short-form video content. The editor will play a key role in shaping compelling narratives that highlight the experiences, stories, and contributions of the Muslim community in Canada. This role requires both technical editing ability and a sensitivity to storytelling, pacing, and audience engagement.
Key Responsibilities
- Edit Documentary Content
- Assemble and refine documentary interviews, b-roll, and archival footage into cohesive narrative pieces.
- Produce Short-Form Videos
- Edit short-form content for social media and digital platforms, including reels, highlights, and thematic clips.
- Story Development
- Work with the Creative Director to structure stories, refine pacing, and ensure each piece communicates its intended message clearly.
- Audio and Visual Finishing
- Balance dialogue, music, and sound effects; perform basic color correction and ensure visual consistency across projects.
- Content Delivery
- Prepare final exports for multiple platforms including social media, online releases, and presentations.
Skills & Qualifications
- Experience editing documentary or narrative video content
- Proficiency with professional editing software (e.g., DaVinci Resolve, Adobe Premiere Pro, or similar)
- Strong sense of storytelling, pacing, and visual rhythm
- Ability to work with interview-based footage and build coherent narratives
- Good communication and ability to collaborate with a creative team
- Familiarity with content created for social media platforms is an asset
