Programs/Events Intern

Description

Duration: 8 Weeks
Job Term: Full Time, Summer Contract

Primary Duties:
  • Assist in planning, coordinating, and executing programs, events, and community initiatives
  • Support the development and delivery of programs that align with organizational and community goals
  • Lead event planning logistics including timelines, registration, communications, setup, and post-event follow-up
  • Design program and event plans while collaborating with staff, volunteers, and stakeholders for successful execution
  • Promote programs and events through marketing initiatives, outreach efforts, and social media communications
  • Create and maintain participant, volunteer, and stakeholder contact lists, registrations, and communication records
  • Develop procedures, forms, and records to document program and event activities
  • Assist in tracking program and event budgets, expenditures, and allocated resources
  • Evaluate program and event outcomes and provide recommendations for improvement
  • Identify and engage community partners to create collaborative programming opportunities
  • Assess community needs and contribute ideas to enhance current offerings and develop new initiatives
  • Support sports program planning, logistics, and day-to-day operational requirements
  • Ensure programs and events are welcoming, inclusive, and reflective of the diverse needs of the community
  • Provide leadership and support to volunteers and volunteer committees to strengthen community engagement and organizational impact
  • Maintain availability for evenings, weekends, and holidays when required for special programming and events
  • Commit to being present on program and event days, assisting with setup, delivery, and wrap-up

Qualifications:
  • Experience in event planning, program coordination, or community engagement is an asset
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong planning, organization, and time management skills
  • Demonstrated leadership ability and effective conflict resolution skills
  • Ability to manage multiple stakeholders while delivering strong customer service
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while contributing effectively within a team environment
  • Strong relationship-building skills with staff, volunteers, community members, and external partners
  • Energetic, adaptable, and enthusiastic about community service and engagement

Required Qualifications:
  • Applicants must be between the ages of 18 to 30 years (inclusive)
  • Must be a Canadian Citizen, Permanent Resident, or person granted refugee protection under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of employment
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations
  • Must have a valid Social Insurance Number (SIN) at the start of employment and maintain legal eligibility to work in Canada throughout the employment term
  • Must have access to a reliable personal laptop for administrative and internship-related responsibilities


Compensation

$17.60 per hour
