Start Date: December 9th, 2024
End Date: January 3rd, 2025
Location: 2200 South Sheridan Way, Mississauga, ON L5J 2M4
Job Term: Contract - Full Time 

Responsibilities:
  • Assist the Programs Coordinator in planning and preparation which may include purchasing resources, preparing materials, and decorating the space.
  • Assist the Camp Counselors in the execution of day camps, which includes setting up before and cleaning up after each day
  • Prioritizes child well-being, safety and protection throughout the camp. Evaluates situations for potential risks to the safety, protection and well-being of campers and staff, proactively taking mitigating actions to address such risks.
  • Demonstrates the confidence and ability to make decisions independently of peers and in the best interests of the campers. Resolves problems and conflicts effectively as they arise.
  • Ensures all participants are aware of upcoming events and schedule changes.
  • Coaches and mentors volunteers and campers, providing feedback to the Volunteer Coordinator through formal assessments if needed.
  • Provide leadership to volunteers and campers
  • Ensure the safety and care of all children while at ICC and on camps field trips
  • Lead games, crafts, and other activities for large and small groups of children
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Able to accept instruction and carry out duties efficiently and joyfully.

  • Has a heart for working with children and families of varied social, economic, ethnic, and spiritual backgrounds

Qualifications and Skills:
  • Applicants must be between the ages of 16 to 30 years (inclusive)
  • Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act, for the duration of the employment
  • Legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations
  • Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Time management skills and deadline-oriented
  • Ability to respond to members’ requests with patience and enthusiasm; understand the needs of members and escalate issues when appropriate
  • Work with little supervision or assistance, work within a team and independently
  • Strong conflict management skills
